This article, titled "When Your Life Becomes a Verb", discusses Charlie Sheen. His well-known crazy actions have inspired a new verb, called "sheening" or "sheened". These terms "clearly connote partying, questionable decision making and public humiliation." Some people also consider it to mean "getting high on pills and sleep aids," and also the new name for wasted. I think this is especially humorous because of the recent firing of Sheen from his long-time gig "Two and a Half Men." It's about time! The argument by Laura M. Holson isn't biased in any way because she includes quotes from famous people using the verb (hence why it is getting popular) and also quotes from Charlie Sheen himself and some of the many unintelligent things he has said. This source is definitely non-academic considering it's context. I am not surprised that his partying has gotten him to this point of being made fun of, so I agree with what the article is saying. I'm not surprised that he got a word to describe himself. The intended audience is pretty much anyone who knows about the actor Sheen and his drug and partying scandals, and there have been many.
This makes me laugh, because I know someone else that has a word after their actions. It is more making fun of that person though than being something "cool" that is happening.
